What there is no such thing as
Dish It has no email address, no password and no sign-in. On first launch you choose a username. The app is handed an identifier and a secret, both of which live in your device keychain and are never shown to anyone else. That is the whole account.
Because there is no email, there is nothing to leak, no password to reuse and no way for us to contact you.
What is stored

Everything you write is public
There is no private mode and no audience picker. Every note and every photograph in Dish It can be read by anyone using the app. Please do not write anything you would not put on a public page.
Location
Dish It asks for your location for two reasons: to sort restaurants by distance, and to mark a note as Verified when you write it inside the restaurant.
Your coordinate is never stored. When you save a note the app sends where the phone is, the server measures the distance to that restaurant, and then keeps only two things: whether you were within about 250 metres, and that distance as a number. The coordinate itself is discarded and never written down.
Location is never required. Refusing it means notes carry no Verified badge and distance sorting does not work. Everything else behaves identically.
What is never done
- Nothing is sold, rented or shared with any third party.
- There is no advertising and no advertising identifier.
- There are no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party SDKs of that kind.
- Your contacts, photo library, calendar and health data are never read. Choosing one photograph to upload does not give the app the rest of your library.
- You are not profiled or scored, and nothing about you is passed to a data broker.
Children
Dish It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Where it lives
Notes, dishes and photographs are stored with Supabase, our hosting provider, on servers in the United States. Notifications are delivered by Apple. Menu photographs you choose to scan are sent once to a machine-learning provider to read the text, and are not retained by them for training.
Deleting everything
Email dishit@dancykier.com with the user ID from Settings ▸ My ID and everything you have written will be deleted. Because there is no email address on the account, that ID is the only way to prove which account is yours.
Changes
If this policy changes materially the date at the top changes and the new version appears here.
